Is Personal Training for Me? 

The word “coach” is an old French word meaning, a vehicle to transport people from one place to another. In some cultures the word is even used to describe a type of carriage that conveys a valued person from where he or she was to where he or she wanted to be.

Imagine trying to get somewhere you have never been without the help of a map, GPS or someone to point you in the right direction. You would find yourself wandering around like lost puppy likely to never reach your destination.

When it comes getting healthy or more physically fit most do not know where to begin. They have little, if any, knowledge of how to program their training or plan their meals to reach their goals. When I first began my journey I didn’t know how to use the equipment or perform the exercises properly. I often eavesdropped in on other people’s coaching, annoyed the hell out of the coaches later with questions, watched YouTube videos, and took part in every class I could to get a variety of experiences.

Even today, as I make a living coaching others I am constantly seeking to gain more knowledge. There is so much information out there, some good and some not so much, it’s very challenging to decipher what to use and what to throw out. It’s nearly impossible to be an expert on it all.

The best athletes in the world, CEO’s, lawyers, doctors, etc. all hire coaches to help them improve their craft. Often we’re too close to the situation to see objectively where the issue lies and how we can fix it. Don’t let your ego get the best of you, ask for help. I ask others for guidance and help all the time. I know I don’t have all the answers.

If you don’t know how to reach your destination, you are not alone.

Know that there will still be a ton of hard work and discipline to earn that physique, increase your athletic ability, or improve your health barometers . But with having a coach in your corner your plateaus will be few and far between, you will have an accountability buddy, and mentor to lead the way.
